Website Design

As KKPS recently acquired companies, the website needed an overhaul to include all their capabilities and to remain competitive within the industry.

Competitive Analysis and Preparation

I defined the website scope by completing two competitive analyses assessing how competitors address important components of the user experience. The first analysis evaluated home pages to identify strengths and weaknesses, and how KKSP could take advantage of both to stand out. The second used card sorting to categorize information on competitors sites to guide what KKSP should include, and how to display it. From these insights, I compiled a list of issues to solve with the new website, along with a proposed information architecture for the header, footer, and page content.

Wireframes and Prototypes

To start, I created multiple variations of pages while wireframing the new KKSP website to keep the design direction open. I kept details to a minimum in order to focus on the higher level layout and flow of the website. Additionally, I created example user flows to demonstrate the website’s functionality.

Once we solidified the content and flow of the website, I began working on visual design elements such as colors, spacing, and sizing.

Lastly, I created a low fidelity prototype.

Communications

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, KKSP was in need of better ways to communicate important information to all workers. I helped establish a texting service, video communication, as well as revive mass email messaging.

Logo Refresh

Since the acquisition of new companies, KKSP needed an updated logo to include all locations. We took this opportunity to modernize the logo, while still keeping brand recognition.

To update and modernize KKSP’s logo, I consolidated the “K” icon, updated the colors to Pantone colors, aligned the text to the “K”, and added the new location.
